Our new students for 2017-2018 had great fun when they came to visit us on 19th June.

We are having a fun and spooky Halloween here in Slatta NS!

We are taking part in Maths Week, enjoying Maths All Around Us!

We are doing lots of maths activities in class and maths games for homework.

We also went to Creative Ardagh, Co. Longford and went on a maths trail discovering many different shapes and angles in the world around us.

We made some Wind Socks and then experimented with wind direction.

Junior and  Senior Infants and 1st class had fun planting flowers in our school window boxes.

Everyone helped plant the flowers.

Tuesday 15th March 2016 was Proclamation Day. On this day every school in the country was invited to share their Proclamation for a New Generation.

Here in Slatta N.S. we savoured the chance to learn more about The 1916 Easter Rising as we prepared for Proclamation Day.

The Senior Classes completed a project on the history of The Easter Rising which can be viewed on the noticeboard in the hallway of the school. (Pictures below)

The Junior Classes incorporated The Easter Rising into their Aistear play sessions – role-playing in the GPO and having a mini rising with their smallworld village and army. (Photos on website)

On Tuesday 15th we had a flag raising ceremony for the Irish flag we received back in October.

6th class read the 1916 Proclamation then 3rd and 4th class read Slatta’s Proclamation for a New Generation. The Junior classes waved their flags as they watched with great interest.

1916 Easter Rising Project

We invite you all and any prospective parents to come and see our lovely school environment and find out more about what we offer here at Slatta N.S. On Friday 20th March our annual Spring clean of the local area around the school takes place from 12.30. Then from 1.15p.m. join us for a cuppa and a chat and we will happily answer any questions you might have.

Congratulations to Fiona, Keevey, Joshua, Max and Adam from 2nd class who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 31st May.
